About the role

  • Lead governance and integrity practices at iA Financial Group, ensuring compliance and promoting ethical standards across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary resource for implementing iA Financial Group’s Corporate Policy on Governance Documents and ensure adherence to the principles, protocols and processes defined in the Policy.
  • Advance and evolve the organization’s governance mechanisms to ensure consistency and uniformity across iA Financial Group.
  • Responsible for developing, deploying and enforcing the processes related to the creation, revision or redesign of iA Financial Group policies.
  • Coordinate the drafting, review and approval of policies by the various stakeholders and develop tools to support their drafting.
  • Responsible for the iA Financial Group Governance Framework and its periodic updates.
  • Maintain an up-to-date register of iA Financial Group policies and oversee their publication.
  • Responsible for updating iA Financial Group’s Professional Code of Conduct and ensuring the Group follows industry best practices in integrity and ethics.
  • Act as a point of contact for application of iA Financial Group’s Professional Code of Conduct.
  • Responsible for developing, deploying and implementing processes related to integrity and ethics within the Group, including processes for managing conflicts of interest for employees, directors and officers, and the process related to the integrity hotline, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of relevant training for employees and other stakeholders.
  • Serve as an influencer on best practices in governance, ethics and integrity across iA Financial Group companies.
  • Coach legal department members and other stakeholders to develop their practices regarding governance, ethics and integrity, and promote teamwork and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure establishment and compliance with processes, standards and norms in force at iA Financial Group, and drive improvements in working methods.
  • Put in place mechanisms to develop and maintain a community of expertise (e.g., subject-matter expert DMS, technical meetings).
  • Oversee the performance of services under your responsibility and coordinate the availability of financial, material and human resources to ensure delivery of commitments.

Requirements

  • Lawyer with a minimum of 12 years’ experience in a corporate legal environment, including governance expertise
  • LL.B. or J.D. degree from a recognized university and a member in good standing of a provincial bar
  • Strategic thinking, strong business acumen and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and complex mandates with confidence, agility and adaptability to change and unforeseen events
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a strong team orientation to influence at all levels of the organization and to build trust with team members, legal services managers and staff, directors and senior management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent command of French
  • Knowledge of the insurance and financial services industry is an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of English, as the role will require daily collaboration and drafting of documents with stakeholders in Canada and the United States.
