About the role

  • Associate Attorney serving as a strategic advisor on tax strategy, optimization, and controversy litigation. Engaging with clients, federal agencies, and DOJ on high-stakes tax matters.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support litigation efforts in Federal Refunds, Employee Retention Credit (ERC) disputes, and other sophisticated tax controversy matters.
  • Engage directly with the Department of Justice (DOJ), IRS, and other federal and state agencies in high-stakes tax litigation.
  • Advise clients on income tax mitigation structures, trusts, corporate tax planning, and asset protection strategies.
  • Represent clients in audits, administrative proceedings, appeals, and litigation.
  • Collaborate with a high-performing team of tax attorneys and professionals to develop innovative strategies for business owners and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Deliver clear, actionable legal guidance while building trusted, long-term client relationships.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in tax law, corporate law, M&A, asset protection, or tax controversy litigation
  • Proven litigation experience —particularly in Federal Refunds and ERC disputes
  • Prior experience working with the Department of Justice (DOJ) is highly preferred
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Exceptional client-facing presence with the ability to navigate high-pressure, high-value matters
  • A proactive, growth-minded, and solutions-oriented approach to complex problems
  • Admission to a U.S. state bar (California preferred but not required)
