Inspect, repair and commission automated underground mining equipment at mine sites. Requires mechanical/electrical qualifications, schematic-reading ability and willingness to travel across Canada.
Responsibilities
Inspect equipment to ensure proper operation and identify faults and failures
Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective components or systems as required to restore equipment to original manufacturing specifications
Verify the correct operation of repaired equipment
Oversee the commissioning of new equipment
Accurately complete time sheets, technical reports, failure reports and parts lists
Stay up to date on industry developments, customer requirements, products and technical best practices
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Diploma or certificate in a relevant field (mechanical/electrical) or equivalent experience as a heavy equipment mechanic
Five (5) years of related experience with mining equipment (underground)
Previous experience with Sandvik equipment or products is an asset
Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics
Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues on mining equipment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Computer skills and experience with Microsoft software (e.g., Microsoft Office)
Valid driver’s license required and willingness to travel to mine sites and across Canada as needed
Ability and willingness to work variable hours as required
