About the role
- Process Engineer at BiOrigin Specialty Products developing specialty paper and tissue solutions to tackle challenges. Play a crucial role in optimizing production processes and enhancing product quality.
Responsibilities
- Lead process optimization opportunities based on input from management, operators, customers, consumers, industry leaders, and maintenance personnel.
- Coordinate all aspects of trials related to process optimization / improvement.
- Identify, test and trial, and implement potential new fiber sources.
- Manage chemical supplier activities and set priorities.
- Keep current with industry process advancements.
- Collect, trend and present data to determine and correct problems.
- Initiate specification and procedural changes to improve quality.
- Track and analyze quality data, costs, and raw material usage to identify problems.
- Update production specs to minimize costs while maintaining quality parameters.
- Work closely with crews and Quality Department to ensure products meet all quality specifications.
- Work with Environmental/Safety Manager on process improvements.
- Lead process troubleshooting efforts including chemical and physical analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Bio Engineering, Chemistry, Pulp & Paper Engineering, or equivalent experience required.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have a high level of understanding of papermaking test methods and data interpretation.
- Must be highly proficient with analysis of large amounts of data.
