About the role

  • Project Manager supporting vaccine scheduling system planning for NYC Health Department. Collaborating with multiple stakeholders to enhance public health emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning, development, and implementation of a vaccine appointment scheduling and vaccination management system for use during public health emergencies.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, milestones, risks, and deliverables to ensure on-time and effective execution.
  • Coordinate cross-bureau stakeholders, including IT, operations, subject matter experts, legal, procurement, and external vendors or partners.
  • Translate emergency response and operational needs into clear functional and technical system requirements.
  • Support evaluation of system solutions, including build vs. buy options, integrations, scalability, and sustainability.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, status reports, workflows, and post-activation or after-action summaries.
  • Support system testing, readiness activities, training, and rapid deployment during emergency response activations.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in public health, public administration, information systems, project management, or a related field; or a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, preferably in public health, emergency preparedness, health IT, or government settings.
  • Experience supporting vaccination programs, emergency response operations, or large-scale public health initiatives.
  • Familiarity with appointment scheduling systems, data systems, or digital tools used in healthcare or government.
  • The ideal candidate for this position must be a pro-active and self-motivated individual with the ability to work in teams and in a highly dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders and timelines.

  • Experience working with the public health sector and coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize and work in fast-paced environment with hard deadlines.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
