About the role

  • Staff Actuary role assessing impacts of company decisions using financial theory and mathematics. Involves pricing, underwriting, and communication of complex concepts with high autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Use statistics, financial theory, mathematics, and actuarial principles to assess the impact of company decisions
  • Manage small projects with limited interaction outside Actuarial department
  • Operate with a high level of autonomy for pricing, underwriting, reserving, and forecasting
  • Communicate complicated concepts and recommendations regarding process, data, analysis, and results

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Economics
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and Membership in the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)
  • At least 3 years of actuarial experience
  • Verbal and written communications skills to prepare effective documentation, facilitate training and development, and participate in presentations
  • PC proficiency to include Word and Excel
  • Access, SQL, Visual Basic or other programming skills (preferred)
  • Actuarial experience in the health insurance or related field (preferred)
  • Pharmacy or Medicare experience is a plus (preferred)
