About the role

  • Document Controller managing engineering document lifecycle at Giffen Consulting. Ensuring compliance and collaboration in project delivery across multiple teams and locations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of engineering documents, including creation, numbering, revision control, distribution, and archiving.
  • Maintain project documentation in alignment with company standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
  • Coordinate document workflows between internal teams, vendors, and external engineering firms.
  • Track and report document status, deliverables, and outstanding actions.
  • Support project teams during studies, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of metadata and document records within the document management system.
  • Prepare transmittals, maintain registers, and issue controlled document packages.
  • Provide guidance to project team members on document control processes and tools.
  • Assist in audits, quality assurance checks, and continuous improvement initiatives for document control procedures.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Document Controller in the engineering, construction, or EPC sector.
  • Strong understanding of document management standards, workflows, and best practices.
  • Experience supporting both early phase engineering studies and execution phase projects.
  • Proficiency with document control systems (e.g., EDMS platforms such as Aconex, SharePoint, Omega 365, etc.).
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage large volumes of documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Spanish language proficiency (spoken and written).
  • Familiarity with ISO document standards and engineering deliverable types (P&IDs, datasheets, drawings, vendor documents, etc.).
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple time zones.
  • Ability to travel and work in the USA and Mexico
