Responsibilities
Engage with senior business leaders to understand long-term strategic challenges.
Initiate, formulate, and implement new business practices within a specific discipline while managing the development and/or delivery of a significant element of the organization's change management program.
Define the execution plan to disseminate innovative capabilities across the businesses, helping people develop these competencies and enabling them to innovate through solutions such as idea generation platforms, jam sessions, and hackathons.
Lead the design of complex and/or innovative engineering solutions and the associated validation processes for a business-critical area of engineering to enable the realization of engineering design briefs that conform to organizational and/or regulatory standards.
Provide leadership on the design and development of engineering standards and specifications for a business-critical area that must be adhered to by the organization and/or its suppliers, contractors, and consultants to ensure engineering work of the required quality is delivered and to manage the risks associated with engineering programs.
Manage the development of policies and processes for knowledge management to ensure the creation of best practices and the setup of case studies and internal knowledge-sharing sessions; manage, capture, and share knowledge among colleagues on project/program outcomes and innovative practices across a large area to support the practice.
Lead the discussion and recommendation of more complex or innovative technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/application software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs.
Lead and oversee the provision of professional supervision to ensure that there is effective professional supervision that supports practitioners' professional development and embeds reflective practice.
Conduct the most-complex feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes, products, or business unit structure.
Take responsibility for managing the definition, development, and delivery of a significant product or service within the product development and engineering program, ensuring alignment with customer requirements.
Manage a portfolio of major projects in line with overall project management strategy.
Manage key client and customer relationships. Likely to involve using account teams to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Update the development and implementation of the Industrial Water Market Business Plan that includes alignment to Industrial Water lifecycle organizational structure to allow for the successful acquisition and performance of Industrial Water work.
Ensure a coordinated approach to maintaining client management and project financial systems to include capturing contact data, meetings with key clients and the solid performance of Industrial Water services.
Promote relationships with existing and potential clients in the Region. Increase business by improving client relationships, strengthening repeat business, and completing successful projects. Expand the client base by promoting and successfully performing GHD’s services.
Perform efficient regional business development relating to the Industrial Water market, while adhering to GHD’s Winning Work Process to promote growth and sustained profitability.
Efficiently manage Industrial Water projects, including the development of a successful Industrial Water project management structure within the Region, to promote growth and sustained profitability.
Collaborate with other Regional Market Sector Leaders to position, win and successfully perform multidisciplinary projects within the Region and across the Americas.
Represent and promote GHD at networking events, professional and industrial associations, society meetings, conferences, and tradeshows as required.
Technical leadership on projects as required. Direction and input on major tenders/bids or proactive client proposals.
Identify areas of practice within the Regions and across Americas, based on client feedback or market trends (service lines) that require enhancement to meet present or future opportunities.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree where a Master's Degree is an asset
P.E. designation
Experience enables the candidate to provide leadership to others regarding work-related systems, processes, and challenges
Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes
Must have 15+ years of experience of applied knowledge in Industrial Water management. Experience in the Midwest and Northeast, including clients, is preferred.
Experience leading engineering and design of IW related projects.
Experience in developing project scopes, schedules, and budgets for projects.
Must be competent in leading and completing front-end process evaluations and developing IW solutions for clients. This will include treatment alternative evaluations in a FEL process, PFD, P&ID and GA development, and CAPEX and OPEX estimating. Familiarity and experience in alternative delivery including progressive design build is preferred.
Must be a strong technical writer and communicator.
Must be able to work on multiple assignments simultaneously; and have strong organizational, problem solving, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Must be able to manage relationships with multiple private sector clients.
Must have a track record working on and as a Project Manager or Project Director.
