About the role
- Mechanical Design Engineer developing industry-leading electro-optical transceivers using GF’s Photonix platform at GlobalFoundries. Collaborating across teams for high-quality product delivery in mechanical design.
Responsibilities
- Creating mechanical designs for CPO products, including integrating PICs, EICs, substrates, and optical components.
- Designing for manufacturability and yield, considering factors like assembly processes and material selection.
- Creating detailed documentation, including BOMs (Bill of Materials) and drawings, for fabrication and assembly.
- Collaborating with internal and external suppliers to ensure the final product meets specifications and performance requirements.
- Working closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical, optical, and process engineers.
- Ensures that all packaged products meet a standardized set of quality expectations by driving product packaging design reviews.
Requirements
- MS, or PhD + 5 or more years of experience
- Strong skills in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including thermal and structural analysis.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
