About the role

Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Application Engineer Team Leader, provide solutions and technical leadership to drive innovation of GE Grid Solutions protection and control devices
- Define product technical requirements, provide solutions utilizing specifications, simulations, and model-based design
- Mentor team members
- Work with Program & Product Management to create high-level specifications
- Develop and support protection and control solutions utilizing design specifications, model-based design
- Perform system studies and simulations to validate algorithms
- Analyse user specifications/requirements to recommend solutions
- Analyse market trends and propose new developments in GE Digital Energy products
- Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams
- Author technical papers and present materials at tradeshows
Requirements
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent knowledge or experience
- Extensive experience in power system protection, automation, and control product development
- Working knowledge of Matlab / Simulink for model design and power system simulation tools such as RTDS, PSCAD or ATP/EMTP
- Proven track record of publishing and presenting at industry forums and conferences
- Familiarity with industry standards and documentation procedures of electrical utilities
- Knowledge of modern protection and control and distribution automation developments and trends
- Knowledge or experience of metering, wireless / Ethernet / serial communications applicable to P&C (such as IEC61850, Modbus, DNP3.0 and IEC60870-5-103)
