About the role

  • Student Assistant focusing on applying AI and Machine Learning techniques for research in an innovative team at Fraunhofer society.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in research and testing of state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms
  • Analyze, preprocess, and visualize various data types (text, images, etc.)
  • Review current scientific literature and datasets
  • Assist in creating and managing datasets
  • Plan, execute, and document experiments
  • Contribute to the development of AI solutions

Requirements

  • Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary teamwork and advancing innovative approaches in remote sensing, computer vision, machine learning, and neuroscience
  • Enrolled in a Master’s program in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computational Linguistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Media Informatics, or a comparable degree program with strong academic performance
  • Research interest in one or more of the following areas: Reinforcement Learning for LLMs and AI agents, Multimodal Learning, Self-supervised Learning, and Computer Vision
  • Strong proficiency with programming languages and tools used in data science and AI, particularly Python, and familiarity with NumPy, OpenCV, Pandas, SQL, Docker, Git, etc.
  • PyTorch experience: hands-on experience training machine learning models on one or more GPUs; ability to work with existing codebases and to start training runs
  • Broad programming background, including practical AI methods and related areas
  • Excellent written and spoken English
