About the role

  • Enterprise Data Governance Manager driving Ford’s data strategy and ensuring data is a strategic asset. Leading data governance initiatives and promoting use of analytics big data platform.

Responsibilities

  • Operationalize and ensure the effectiveness of the Enterprise Data Council (EDC), acting as the central figure for its strategic implementation and day-to-day management.
  • Facilitate EDC meetings, including setting agendas, preparing and disseminating materials, and actively managing action items to ensure impactful outcomes and continuous progress.
  • Guide the EDC in establishing consensus and driving unified action across Enterprise Technology and all business units regarding how data should be managed and utilized as a strategic asset.
  • Ensure the EDC consistently focuses on developing and implementing enterprise-wide data standards, clear data ownership, comprehensive governance policies, and proactive data quality monitoring.
  • Support the EDC in prioritizing high-impact enterprise data initiatives, ensuring effective resource allocation to projects that deliver the highest business value and align with Ford's overall corporate strategy.
  • Serve as the primary evangelist for Ford's big data platform, articulating its capabilities, value proposition, and how it delivers analytic outcomes that improve business results.
  • Develop compelling narratives and presentations to communicate the "full story" of the platform to key business stakeholders, driving understanding and adoption.
  • Champion the enterprise data strategy within various skill teams and domains, facilitating the dissemination of key information and promoting the adoption of new data policies and capabilities.
  • Identify and promote successful use cases that demonstrate the platform's ability to unlock strategic potential and address critical business unit data needs.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership from Enterprise Technology and key Business Skillteams to gather strategic input and ensure alignment on data initiatives.
  • Act as a central point of contact for data-related challenges, capability gaps, and functional needs articulated by business units within the EDC forum.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to break down data silos and facilitate controlled, secure data sharing across the enterprise.
  • Work closely with the Data Platforms and Engineering teams to develop, disseminate, and enforce comprehensive data governance policies, including data collection, usage, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee the implementation of enterprise-wide data standards, consistent formats, clear definitions, and measurable quality metrics.
  • Stay informed about the latest trends and technological advancements in data platforms, governance, and analytics to inform EDC discussions and strategic direction.
  • Solicit and incorporate feedback from EDC members and stakeholders to continuously improve data governance processes and the effectiveness of the data platform evangelism strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field or work equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in data management, data governance, product management for data platforms, or a related strategic role within a large enterprise.
  • Proven experience in leading or significantly contributing to data governance initiatives and/or managing cross-functional councils.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage senior-level stakeholders and translate complex technical concepts into compelling business value for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding of data architectures, big data technologies, and cloud platforms (GCP specifically is a plus).
  • Experience with data governance frameworks, data security, compliance, and regulatory requirements in an enterprise environment.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with a proven track record of driving adoption and cultural change.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies is a plus.
