About the role

  • Commercial Attorney on Merchant Solutions team at Fiserv. Drafting agreements and legal advising to support compliant growth in fintech services.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements with merchants, merchant service providers, and governmental entities.
  • Review and respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) with tailored contract terms, risk allocations, and required certifications.
  • Advise business partners on legal, contractual, and risk matters affecting merchant services offerings and product sets.
  • Partner with product, risk, and compliance teams to commercialize new products and functionalities aligned to regulatory requirements.
  • Provide legal consultation on strategic initiatives, technology projects, and dispute resolution strategies.
  • Collaborate with corporate specialists on credit, risk, finance, audit, tax, regulation, privacy, and technology issues impacting Merchant Solutions.
  • Develop and maintain templates, playbooks, and standard forms for contracts and other legal documentation.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a transactional attorney drafting and negotiating commercial agreements in financial services, payments, technology, or similar regulated industries.
  • Experience negotiating agreements with merchants, service providers, or governmental entities, including data protection, liability, and service-level terms.
  • Experience advising business stakeholders on contractual risk, regulatory obligations, and privacy requirements related to payment acceptance or merchant acquiring.
  • Experience reviewing and responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and aligning legal terms to business objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting contract analysis and redlining and managing agreement workflows in a contract lifecycle management system.
  • Active membership in a U.S. state bar in good standing, or eligibility to obtain licensure as in-house counsel in the applicable state.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.
