About the role

  • Research Analyst driving investment thesis in physical & computational biology for venture fund. Collaborate with investment team and independently research key opportunities in this field.

Responsibilities

  • As a Research Analyst you are responsible for our expansion into the world of physical & computational biology.
  • You will work closely with the investment team to shape our investment thesis in this field and identify game-changing opportunities.
  • You will independently research the field of biology, especially at the interface with the deeply physical and computational sciences.
  • Drive lasting impact: Actively form our investment thesis in physical & computational biology.
  • Build a strong network for our portfolio: Identify key opinion leaders and build a network of experts from biotech & pharma companies as well as relevant research institutes.
  • Lead deep-dive research: Investigate the intersection of biology & deep tech and support the investment team by sourcing promising start-ups that align with our strategy.
  • Gain full exposure to the investment process: Work side-by-side with our investment team through the entire deal flow, from first contact and due diligence to deal closing.

Requirements

  • You have a strong academic background in biology, biotechnology or a related field.
  • Ideally paired with expertise in computer science or engineering.
  • PhDs are encouraged to apply.
  • Your technical background is a valuable asset to our team.
  • You understand the role of data in biotech and you have a good idea about strategies for data collection and utilisation.
  • You bring strong analytical capabilities and can move from technical papers to business models to founder conversations with ease.
  • You work with extreme ownership and high agency, spotting opportunities, designing a plan, and executing without waiting for permission.
  • You have ideally gained first practical experience in a fast-paced environment such as startups or engineering competitions.
  • You communicate clearly and convincingly in both German and English, whether you're pitching an idea to the team or speaking to key opinion leaders.
  • Not mandatory but a plus: You understand the inner workings of biotech and pharma companies including regulatory pathways.
