About the role

  • Senior Principal Financial Analyst developing specialized tax analysis and compliance strategies for FINRA. Leading projects that enhance tax accounting practices and drive regulatory compliance within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized tax analysis, research, and recommendations supporting FINRA’s overall tax strategy and compliance
  • Research and provide expert input on complex technical tax accounting matters
  • Incorporate tax regulations and best practices into strategic recommendations impacting financial transactions, systems, and procedures
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on tax matters
  • Maintain key relationships with external and internal auditor personnel and external tax counsel and service providers
  • Drive compliance with applicable regulations and accounting principles
  • Lead activities and operations of projects that drive process consistency and cohesion throughout the organization’s Tax and Accounting work areas
  • Develop and document technical tax accounting guidance, policies, and best practices for Finance teams
  • Analyze the organization’s financial operations, systems, and reports
  • Collaborate with multiple work areas to identify opportunities for improvement and streamline financial processes
  • Monitor planned and recently implemented strategies for tax impact and report findings to senior leadership
  • Coach junior staff and/or experienced individual contributors

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum eight (8) years of tax, accounting and/or financial reporting experience
  • Experience supervising projects and/or mentoring junior staff
  • Extensive knowledge of current GAAP reporting and current tax regulations (Federal, state, and local)
  • Active CPA license highly desired
  • Advanced time management, prioritization and strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and produce outstanding measurable results
  • Excellent computer and analytical skills, including full suite of MS Office applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented setting
