About the role
- Reliability Engineer I responsible for equipment failure analysis and improvement recommendations at Freeport-McMoRan's copper smelting operations. Ensuring uninterrupted production and managing equipment health through data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and assist in the identification and implementation of corrective actions or technologies.
- Consider cost impact for recommended action plans for correcting downtime issues on installed equipment.
- Ensure continuous production is uninterrupted by equipment failures.
- Reports on Key Performance Indices.
- Analyze current CMMS data for equipment health indicators and prepare reports.
- Perform onsite evaluation of existing processes and equipment and make recommendations for improvement.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline with no experience required.
- Working knowledge of MSOffice suite including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project
- Knowledge and understanding of good engineering practices and principles.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Self-starter with solid integrity.
- Understand the importance of safety, legality and quality.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
- Completion of Reliability Engineering courses
- SMRP or CMRP Certification
- Six Sigma experience or Certification
- Experience with asset management systems (e.g., SAP PM)
- Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, etc.)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
