About the role

  • Assistant Product Manager leading peers in data extraction and supporting scalability at Farmers. Collaborating across teams and utilizing actuarial knowledge in the P&C insurance industry.

Responsibilities

  • lead and guide peers in identifying potential new data sources and developing a more robust data extraction framework using Python and SQL to support future scalability and efficiency (20%)
  • lead development, improvement, and troubleshooting of premium change tools while guiding actuarial and analytics teams to optimize use and streamline data debugging (25%)
  • conduct training sessions to guide employees in navigating and extracting structured data from complex files using effective tools (10%)
  • extract and clean large datasets from sources such as Cloud data (Snowflake) and XML/JSON files (10%)
  • analyze internal loss ratio data and develop business proposal on rate and underwriting actions to ensure the state hits financial goals (15%)
  • utilize actuarial knowledge in P&C (Property and Casualty) insurance to interpret pricing tool outputs and investigate unexpected values (20%)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Analytics, or a closely related field
  • 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Product Analyst, or similar data science or pricing actuarial position
  • (In the alternative) Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Analytics, or a closely related field, plus 2 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Product Analyst, or similar data science or pricing actuarial position
  • 2 years of experience with: working in P&C insurance industry, including working within Personal Lines
  • automating data ingestion pipelines using Python and SQL to streamline preprocessing
  • using R, Snowflake, Jupyter Notebooks, SAS, and Git
  • developing a process to parse and extract specific data fields from structured XML and JSON files for further analysis
  • creating dashboards using Power BI and Plotly to communicate insights to stakeholders
  • developing and implementing pricing tools for personal lines using actuarial concepts and theories
  • analyzing large insurance datasets to identify trends, loss drivers, and segmentation opportunities
  • partnering with underwriting, product, and finance teams to align pricing strategies with business goals
