Responsibilities
Perform calculations, structural analysis and sizing of railway or highway bridge structures in accordance with applicable standards, codes and regulations;
Contribute to the execution and design of railway or highway bridge projects in collaboration with the team of technicians and professionals;
Prepare design drawings and specifications for bridge design and rehabilitation projects;
Prepare cost estimates based on quantity takeoffs and the solutions selected for the project;
Conduct engineering studies for construction and various rehabilitation works of steel, concrete and timber structures;
Carry out damage surveys on site or any other expert inspections required for project delivery;
Contribute to the development of railway expertise within our team of nearly 100 bridge design professionals;
Provide support to the designer during construction phases;
Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with colleagues, clients, contractor-partners as well as key supplier representatives and subcontractors;
Share knowledge and experience with team members;
Serve as, or become, a technical reference;
Any other tasks related to the position.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering;
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of bridges and railway structures;
Registered with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec as a professional engineer (P.Eng.);
Proficient in the codes and technologies related to bridge and structure design;
Strong technical knowledge in the design of bridges and related structures;
Team player with excellent interpersonal skills;
Familiarity with modeling and design software such as Advance Design America, SAFI, SAP, CSI Bridges, Midas, L-Pile, Shape Builder, Mathcad, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.;
Familiarity with AREMA publications, Transport Canada regulations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements;
Experience in the design of steel, reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete structures;
