About the role
- Building Engineer conducting maintenance and support for HMP Sudbury's facilities, ensuring safety and compliance. Involved in various maintenance tasks including security systems, fire equipment, and compliance checks.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring availability of critical parts for statutory tasks and managing remedial tasks in the CAFM system
- Performing general and semi-skilled maintenance activities, including security systems like CCTV and alarms
- Conducting monthly checks and tests of fire extinguisher equipment, fire hydrants, and hoses
- Completing quarterly RCD testing and inspecting misting units
- Maintaining fire doors and performing flushing and tap temperature tests as per water risk assessments
- Undertaking monthly and annual emergency lighting checks
- Checking and testing smoke vents as required
- Carrying out any other duties as required
Requirements
- Experienced in multiple areas of maintenance such as fire, door maintenance, fire extinguisher and alarm core points
- Emergency lighting
- RCD water temperature testing
- IT skills
- Prison Security Clearance required (supported by Amey)
