About the role

  • Mechanical Engineering Student (Co-op) providing support in design and field work for infrastructure projects. Gaining mentorship and exposure to real-world engineering challenges in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing design packages, including schematic diagrams, floor plans, equipment room layouts, and schedules
  • Help prepare technical documentation, such as concept reports, meeting minutes, specifications, and contract administration materials
  • Participate in site surveys with senior staff to document existing conditions
  • Support basic mechanical system calculations (e.g., heat loads, equipment sizing) with coaching from senior engineers
  • Gather information from suppliers, assist with equipment comparison, and help with preliminary equipment selections
  • Attend construction site meetings and observe field coordination with senior team members
  • Contribute to system level design tasks and provide general project support as needed to keep projects moving forward

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology program
  • Interest in mechanical design for buildings, infrastructure, or industrial systems
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD; interest in learning Revit MEP is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both design and documentation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Project is a bonus)
  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple small tasks with guidance
