About the role
- Optical designer in the MDR Optics team designing measurement systems for clients in manufacturing. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring successful product integration in optical devices.
Responsibilities
- Explain and describe physical phenomena that influence the measurement quality targeted by the product
- Perform analyses, simulations and preliminary assemblies prior to design
- Interpret measurement requirements and their impacts on the various elements of the design
- Collaborate with mechanical, electronic and software specialists to ensure successful integration
- Design optical circuits/layouts that enable quantitative interpretation of physical phenomena
- Define and write a structured qualification plan
- Perform tests and measurements necessary for product qualification
- Guide and supervise technicians or interns during validation tests
- Perform metrological analysis and uncertainty calculations to justify specifications
- Draft test reports and experimental reports as well as design notebooks that document the product
- Define and write assembly and production test procedures
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a comparable role
- Theoretical and practical mastery of fiber optics, nonlinear optics and classical optics
- Good knowledge of opto-mechanics and optoelectronics
- Good understanding of optical physical phenomena affecting fiber-optic transmission
- Familiarity with commonly used measurement instruments in optical test and measurement
- Familiarity with components and devices used in the design of optical test equipment
- Basic knowledge of metrology, particularly uncertainty calculations to define specifications
- Proficiency in Matlab, Excel and Word
- Bilingual: English and French
