About the role

• Designer working with teams to create healthcare designs and plans for various projects. Collaborating with clients and stakeholders to facilitate innovation and excellence in healthcare architecture.

Responsibilities

• Participate in making key decisions regarding healthcare planning and design of hospital and clinics of significant complexity and size as an integral member of the planning and design team.
• On projects of medium complexity &/or size, responsible for leading others in project team setting and effectively participate in Clinical User Group meetings and client presentations
• Participate and coordinate with the team to produce deliverables reflecting the design team’s planning and design recommendations and client expectations relative to approved program and budget
• Inspires creativity, critical thought and design excellence both internally and externally.
• Conceptualizes a building’s medical planning design from both a functional and aesthetic perspective in concert with a client’s requirements, budget, and program.
• Develops medical planning design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats to express the design intent and communicate to project team, client, and building user groups.
• Utilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
• Presents the medical planning design or technical information with the Project Manager / Lead Healthcare Medical Planner to stakeholders during early project phases. Develops medical planning design in accordance with cost parameters.
• Evaluates and selects building systems and materials.
• Coordinates building systems to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
• Implements sustainable design principles into the design and environment.
• Ensures that design intent is maintained through documentation and construction.
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, prepares site observation reports and other contract administration tasks.

Requirements

• - Familiarity and keen interest in issues surrounding innovative healthcare design, strategic planning, and master-planning
• - Must be curious and strategically oriented; and possess analytical thinking skills
• - Engage in creative and critical thought.
• - Strong oral communication/presentation, graphics, writing, and public speaking skills with the ability to facilitate meetings with clients/ users
• - Produce technical designs at a level that would be perceived externally as excellent.
• - Hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
• - Participate in project team setting.
• - Check work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage team to meet project budget and schedule.
• - Interpret sketches, drawings, codes, building program and other similar material.
• - Present abstract and technical ideas to the client and client representatives.
• - Apply accessibility codes, applicable building codes, and life-safety codes to a wide variety of project scopes and complexity.
• - General knowledge of building construction systems, constructability, materials, and industry associated standards.
• - General understanding of the relationship between drawings and specifications.
• - Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit.
• - Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• - Ability to travel up to 25% is desired.

• - Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field.
• - Licensure, or working to obtain licensure preferred, but not required.
