Civil Engineer/EIT responsible for forensic structural assessments and damage analysis at EFI Global. Collaborating on building designs and enhancing customer service in engineering consultancy.
Responsibilities
To provide fundamental Engineering principles and methods for forensic structural and building damage assessments.
Perform building and structural failure investigations and determine the root cause of failure and damage.
Document existing site conditions using scaled sketches, diagrams, measurements, and photographic documentation.
Utilize appropriate engineering survey and measuring equipment.
Research technical issues including building codes and standards.
Analyze data, develop conclusions, and draft technical reports.
Responsible for handling records of assignments and follow-ups with Claims Adjusters.
Complete building restoration designs to support applications for building permits.
Promote and provide superior customer service and responsiveness.
Requirements
At least a bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in civil/structural engineering from a recognized university.
A Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of the posted position is preferred.
Five (5) + years of engineering experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Some experience in failure and damage analysis, design, construction, maintenance of structures and building envelope mechanism.
Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, procedures, general terms, conditions and nomenclature associated with the insurance industry and assigned area of engineering specialty.
Forensic Engineering investigation experience is a plus.
Documented experience in structural design of wood, steel, and reinforced concrete.
Excellent oral and written communication.
PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
