About the role
- Senior Project Structural Engineer leading structural design for complex buildings at HNTB. Collaborates with teams across sports, aviation, and government infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Leads structural engineering analysis and design of building structures including sport facilities, airport facilities, transit facilities and more in support of HNTB’s national architectural practice.
- Prepares structural engineering analysis and design of framing and foundation systems for steel, concrete, post-tensioned concrete, masonry, and wood building frame systems.
- Collaborates with structural engineering peers and teammates to leverage experience and learning to enhance the creativity and success of the structural practice.
- Develops creative structural design solutions from concept design through final design.
- Provides structural engineering services during bidding and construction phases of projects, including submittal review, providing solutions to construction questions and coordination, and site observation.
- Leads technical tasks of project teams including structural engineers and BIM technicians.
- Coordinates design and provides structural engineering technical direction with multi-disciplined architectural teams.
- Assists project management with administrative operations, such as cost-control on projects and quality control for assigned projects.
- Mentors junior staff and assists in professional development of staff members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience.
- Licensed Professional Engineer: PE having passed the SE1 exam.
- Core structural engineering skills in steel, concrete and masonry.
- Competency in wind and seismic load analysis.
- Competency to develop calculations and drawings for construction.
- Deep understanding of Building Codes (IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI).
- Software proficiency (Revit/BIM 360 and either ETABS, SAP 2000, or RISA).
- Experience leading a team of structural engineers.
