About the role
- Senior Accountant responsible for full-cycle accounting, mentoring staff accountants, and managing complex accounting activities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review general ledger entries to ensure accurate recording of transactions in accordance with accounting standards
- Review general ledger account reconciliations for accuracy, completeness, and resolution of discrepancies
- Provide training, oversight, and mentorship to staff accountants; serve as a primary resource for issue resolution and professional development
- Develop, document, and enhance accounting processes and standard procedures
- Serve as a point of contact for stakeholders, providing guidance on accounting policies and compliance with governing legal documents
- Monitor cash flows for assigned entities to ensure accuracy and alignment with operational and financial requirements
- Review and approve disbursements
- Prepare loan schedules and initiate wire/ACH transactions for distributions, loan advances, and payments, ensuring required approvals are obtained
- Review legal and closing documents to identify inconsistencies with financial records and coordinate resolution with legal and accounting partners
- Prepare customized financial statements and client-specific reporting packages
- Assist with audits and tax return preparation by third-party firms as needed
- Prepare investor reporting in accordance with governing legal documents
- Complete ad hoc projects as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Strong full-cycle accounting and general ledger experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve exceptions and data inconsistencies
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Preferred Leadership or mentoring experience (formal or informal)
