About the role
- Counterfeit Specialist at eBay ensuring accurate counterfeit identification and supporting anticounterfeiting efforts. Conducting analyses and collaborating cross-functionally to drive counterfeit risk mitigation.
Responsibilities
- Review and assess listings, seller behavior, and marketplace signals to accurately identify counterfeit risk within Luxury categories
- Build, maintain, and continuously improve counterfeit-related knowledge resources, guidelines, and training materials
- Provide expert insights and real-world examples to improve model prompts, detection logic, and decision frameworks
- Analyze counterfeit patterns, emerging risks, and enforcement outcomes to inform proactive mitigation strategies
- Partner closely with Legal, Brand Relations, Risk, Business, and GCX Operations teams to align on assessments and implement timely mitigation actions
- Support investigations, blocking issues, and enforcement actions
- Ensure high standards of accuracy, consistency, and defensibility in counterfeit determinations and documentation
- Identify gaps in processes, tools, and knowledge and recommend improvements
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in brand protection, intellectual property enforcement, trust & safety, compliance, risk, investigations, or a related field
- Strong understanding of counterfeit risks, intellectual property rights, and marketplace enforcement models
- Deep understanding of branded attributes in the Luxury and Fashion space, including brand markers, materials, construction, labeling, and authentication signals used to detect counterfeit risk
- Demonstrated ability to apply policy and knowledge frameworks to real-world marketplace data
- Experience contributing to knowledge bases, training materials, or operational guidance
- Analytical attitude with strong attention to detail and solid judgment
- Ability to synthesize complex information and deliver clear, actionable insights
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across legal, technical, and business partners
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment
