About the role
- Staff Accountant/Financial Analyst responsible for accounting and financial analysis at an e-commerce brand specializing in men's wallets.
Responsibilities
- Support month-end close in an accrual (GAAP) environment.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and roll-forward schedules.
- Assist with revenue recognition across Shopify, Amazon, and other e-commerce platforms.
- Support COGS, inventory analysis, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Maintain organized accounting documentation and workpapers.
- Provide monthly P&L reporting, KPI tracking, and variance analysis.
- Build and maintain financial models, rolling forecasts, and dashboards.
- Analyze marketing spend, contribution margins, operational performance, and inventory forecasting.
- Support cash flow planning and working capital optimization.
- Conduct scenario analysis, trend identification, and deep-dive analytics.
- Translate raw, unstructured data into insights without step-by-step instructions (critical requirement).
Requirements
- 3–5+ years experience in accounting, finance, or FP&A (not entry-level).
- Strong understanding of accrual/GAAP accounting, including the rationale behind accruals.
- Experience with e-commerce business models (Shopify, Amazon, inventory, COGS) preferred.
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or similar accounting systems.
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, SUMIF, COUNTIF, data aggregation).
- Ability to work Eastern Time hours (8 AM–4 PM).
- Professional proficiency in English (written and verbal).
