About the role

  • Sr. Tax Accountant managing state and local tax filings for GPM Investments. Collaborating with teams to ensure compliance and effective tax strategies in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and file monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings in compliance with multiple regulatory agencies
  • Analyze state and local tax laws, advise on new product/service taxability, and support effective tax strategies
  • Assist with audit requests, gather documentation, and coordination
  • Research and communicate issues to store accounting, fuel accounting and help desk to ensure accurate collection and accounting for tax accruals and related ledger activity
  • Responsible for general ledger entries and reconciliations of assigned tax liabilities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices
  • Communicate frequently with management team, field operations, Regulatory Agencies, vendors, suppliers and other necessary outside organizations in respect to assigned areas
  • Conform and adhere to internal controls over tax accounting procedures as set forth by upper management

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Advanced Excel skills (i.e. v-lookups, sumifs, pivot tables)
  • Ability to multi-task and complete projects within specific deadlines
  • Strong computer, presentation and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent time management skills
