About the role
- Legal Counsel overseeing legal aspects of agile software development projects at DigitalService GmbH. Involvement in contract management, legal research, and stakeholder communication.
Responsibilities
- Operational advice: You are the primary contact within project teams and answer inquiries from our product and engineering colleagues on IT/IP law and data protection.
- Contract drafting & claim management: For projects with federal ministries, you independently draft contracts and provide legal support for changes in performance or service disruptions.
- Process optimization: You refine existing contract templates for agile development services and help accelerate collaboration with the federal administration.
- Legal research: For complex legal questions in the context of public administration digitalization, you conduct independent research.
- Enablement & knowledge transfer: You prepare and deliver internal workshops on legal topics and translate complex legal information into clear, accessible language for non-lawyers in our knowledge base.
Requirements
- Solid legal expertise: You hold at least the First State Examination (Erstes Staatsexamen) or a master’s degree and can apply case law and legal literature with confidence.
- Specialized knowledge: Ideally, you already have experience in data protection, copyright, and/or public procurement law to comprehensively secure our projects.
- Contract & claim management: You have experience drafting and operationally managing (IT) contracts and have successfully applied this in a legal‑tech startup or the private sector.
- User‑centredness & pragmatism: You draft contracts and policies in language that is understandable to non-lawyers and focus on enabling solutions rather than managing concerns.
- AI affinity: You use AI language models confidently as a tool to make your daily legal and drafting work efficient and modern.
- Strong communication & bilingualism: You communicate confidently with interdisciplinary stakeholders — in German (at least C1) and in English.
