About the role

  • OGC Counsel managing ethics conflicts and compliance issues in a global law firm. Reviewing guidelines and providing advisory support while ensuring adherence to legal ethics and professional responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing situation ‑ specific conflicts checks as needed
  • Reviewing outside counsel guidelines, non ‑ standard engagement letters, and requests for proposal (RFPs) received from clients, and working with partners to prepare client responses that align with firm policies
  • Advising attorneys and others regarding engagement letters, conflicts waivers, ethics walls, and firm policies
  • Performing legal research and analysis on professional responsibility issues, as requested by the Deputy General Counsel, Senior Assistant General Counsel – Conflicts & Ethics, any of the Managing Counsel – Conflicts & Ethics, or Ethics Committee members
  • Preparing and delivering training for attorneys and staff on topics relevant to conflicts, ethics, and professional responsibility
  • Conducting audits of partners for compliance with laws, regulations, and firm policies while collaborating with other members of the OGC
  • Providing administrative support and legal guidance for Ethics Committee and OGC projects and various types of data management, including maintenance of engagement letter and waiver templates, intranet websites and informational materials
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

Requirements

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent
  • Admission to the relevant state bar with active status
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience practicing law and/or working on an ethics conflicts team in a global law firm setting, preferably
