About the role

  • Sourcing Specialist managing supplier performance and risk mitigation at Crown Equipment Corporation. Lead sourcing strategies, supplier development, and cost management initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage key supplier performance through proactive engagement, structured reviews, and escalation.
  • Assess critical supply risks and drive contingency plans, including dual sourcing and supplier development.
  • Lead cross‑functional audits, corrective actions, and measurable risk‑reduction initiatives.
  • Optimize cost and value through analysis of supplier cost structures, processes, and technical alternatives.
  • Lead RFQs, negotiate on technical and commercial factors, and identify design‑to‑cost/value‑engineering opportunities.
  • Validate savings and align with cross‑functional and financial requirements.
  • Serve as sourcing lead for technical and quality initiatives.
  • Support new component qualification, product/process change evaluations, and resolution of supply‑related quality issues.
  • Partner with Engineering to involve suppliers early in design and support technology transfer when needed.
  • Implement sourcing strategies by analyzing suppliers and markets, evaluating alternatives, and recommending approaches based on risk, capability, and lifecycle needs.
  • Translate technical requirements into supplier qualifications and maintain alignment with long‑term category strategies.
  • Lead negotiations for major sourcing agreements, including long‑term contracts and performance‑based terms.
  • Work with legal and business teams to ensure compliance and business alignment.
  • Maintain contract documentation and enforce commercial performance metrics.
  • Execute supplier enablement and data management within business systems.
  • Ensure accurate setup, maintenance, and data integrity.
  • Drive supplier compliance through clear expectations and timely, complete submission of required information.
  • Support department-wide strategy development, training programs, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Mentor Sourcing Specialist 1 & 2 employees and contribute to capability-building within the sourcing function.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams focused on critical supply challenges or key program initiatives.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering)
  • Non-degree considered if 12+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
  • Frequent travel (6-20%) & Occasional overnight stays (0-5%)
  • Must be willing to work onsite – New Bremen, Ohio
  • Professional Certification from APICS, ISM, CIPS or comparable preferred.
  • Strong understanding technical drawings and industrial commodities or Manufacturing Engineering experience preferred.
  • Contract management and negotiation experience preferred.
  • A high level of interpersonal, leadership, teamwork and negotiation skills are desired.
