About the role

  • Global Commodity Manager developing and implementing procurement strategies for electronics and mechanical components in Malaysia. Driving business growth and optimizing supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation global strategies for the commodities mechanics (coolings & heatspreader) and Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) to drive business growth and cost savings.
  • Conducting procurement market analyses and negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure best-in-class pricing and terms
  • Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) Management, including benchmarking and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis to ensure optimal supplier selection
  • Supplier Selection and Management by Collaborating with cross-functional teams to select and manage suppliers, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with company policies.
  • Planning and controlling material cost development, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
  • Optimization of procurement and sourcing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall business performance
  • Participation in product life cycle management activities, including component selection, introduction, and phase-out management
  • Master Data Maintenance related to procurement topics, ensuring data integrity and compliance with company standards
  • Creation and verification of cost calculations for product launches, applying design for cost principles to ensure cost-effective solutions
  • Creation of monthly procurement reports and supporting key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure procurement performance
  • Supporting resolution of material shortages and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and minimize business impact

Requirements

  • Completed degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Electrical Engineering or a comparable qualification
  • Alternatively, a commercial apprenticeship combined with several years of professional experience in a similar position
  • Several years of professional experience in Purchasing and/or Supply Chain Management, ideally in the electronics or mechanical sector
  • In-depth knowledge of electronic and mechanical components and assemblies
  • Experience in contract negotiation and supplier management
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking
  • Excellent negotiation skills and assertiveness
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office and ideally experience with SAP S/4HANA
  • Very good written and spoken English skills.
