Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines.
Has full accountability and ownership for underwriting and for achieving production and profitability goals for an assigned region.
Aligns with top distribution firms to promote profitable growth opportunities.
Works within delegated underwriting authority and guidelines to drive underwriting, operational and transactional excellence.
Delegates authority to subordinate underwriters and partners with the enterprise Property and Casualty groups.
Partners with the SVP and VP level sales and production leaders to maximize profitable growth opportunities.
Leads, directs and has full management accountability for staff with an emphasis on talent management, succession planning and skill development.
Drives implementation of strategic and operational objectives with significant impact on short-term success of multiple products.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with Master’s preferred in a related discipline, or equivalent.
Typically a minimum of 12 years of related work experience, with seven years management experience.
Mastery of underwriting discipline and knowledge in the insurance field and a broad understanding of the critical issues in other related areas.
Advanced communication skills which are critical to building consensus across area of influence (external and/or internal relationships), teams and/or matrix environment.
Strong leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
Ability to drive results by identifying and resolving significant problems within scope of responsibility.
Senior level knowledge of the insurance industry, its products and services.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and other business-related software.
Strong knowledge of assigned business line and insurance industry.
