Product Counsel managing legal analysis for Cloudflare's technology transactions. Engaging cross-functional teams to address legal risks and provide actionable guidance in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Translate complex legal analysis into clear, actionable guidance for fast-moving product and engineering teams.
Proactively assess legal risks and advise product, engineering and business teams building services that reshape how information moves across the Internet—and the laws that govern it.
Review and architect legal frameworks for technology transactions related agreements, such as, technology partner agreements, inbound IP licensing agreements, and marketplace arrangements for Cloudflare’s developer platform.
Review marketing event agreements and support Cloudflare’s team with promotions and sweepstakes.
Draft terms of service, disclosures, policies, and related processes.
Apply privacy-by-design principles and partner with the privacy team on data-flow reviews, PIAs, and other privacy deliverables.
Solicit invention disclosures, support patent strategy, and protect Cloudflare’s trade secrets.
Partner with product and marketing teams on product marketing collateral and claim substantiation.
Build and refine processes that enable the Legal team to scale effectively as Cloudflare continues to expand.
Engage externally on behalf of Cloudflare in areas where you are a subject matter expert.
Requirements
JD degree with strong academic credentials and admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
3+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience, preferably with technology companies. Prior experience with Internet security and infrastructure companies is desired.
Technical background / expertise is highly desired. While a science or technical degree is not a prerequisite for this job, a passion for technologies is.
Experience with copyright law and Internet law is desired (e.g., AI Act, Data Act, net neutrality, DMCA, CFAA).
Strong communication skills and cooperative team player. Lead with empathy and understanding while embracing diverse points of view. Flexibility to adapt and thrive in a fast paced environment.
Ability to work cross-functionally, with lawyers and non-lawyers, to establish effective solutions efficiently and in an amenable manner.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage many tasks on complex projects. Experience with Jira or other project management solutions is desired.
