About the role

  • Operations Manager supporting planning and delivery of exhibitions within the Tech Industry at Clarion. Managing operations for multiple conferences including Energy, Transport, Insurance & Life Sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end operational delivery of conferences and exhibitions in the UK and internationally
  • Plan and manage multiple events and projects across different portfolios simultaneously
  • Own key operational areas for large-scale exhibitions, including signage, feature builds, floor plans, and networking events
  • Manage operations budgets, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting in line with business expectations
  • Source, negotiate, and manage suppliers, venues, and contractors
  • Oversee event design elements including floor plans, signage, show guides, and feature build
  • Manage tender processes for event design, build, and feature delivery
  • Ensure fulfilment of all sponsorship and exhibitor packages, including stands, branding, features, and deliverables
  • Produce and communicate accurate technical information for exhibitors, including exhibitor manuals/zones
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, marketing, sales, and finance teams to ensure aligned delivery
  • Manage health & safety compliance, including risk assessments and Construction Phase Plans
  • Support delivery of virtual and hybrid events, including platform setup, speaker liaison, and live stream coordination
  • Provide operational support to delegates, speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors pre-event and onsite
  • Line-manage and support junior operations staff, providing guidance and development
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to drive continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Experience in an operations manager or senior operations executive role within the events/exhibition industry
  • Strong knowledge of venue operations, industry regulations, and contract terms
  • Demonstrated experience managing event operations budgets, forecasting, and delivering to target
  • Experience managing multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid understanding of onsite Health & Safety, including e-Guide/g-Guide; IOSH Managing Safely preferred
  • Experience designing and coordinating exhibition feature builds and show environments
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and time management
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively at all levels
  • Commercially minded negotiator with strong supplier management skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable taking ownership and responsibility
  • Resilient and calm under pressure, with the ability to meet deadlines and solve problems
  • Technically competent in Microsoft Office and open to learning new systems and event technology
