About the role
- Materials Controller ensuring effective materials management for transit services. Responsible for purchasing operations and stock availability in vehicle maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Provides safe, reliable, efficient, timely and cost-effective transit vehicle maintenance services
- Manages the Transit Services Purchasing Operations & Warranty Programs
- Ensures the availability of stock for transit bus and facility maintenance
- Responsible for general effectiveness of materials management operations
Requirements
- Completion of 3 year community college diploma in Business Administration, Materials and Operations Management or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of materials management and control experience, preferably in a bus and/or automotive parts environment.
- Knowledge of City/branch/department policies and procedures affecting Transit Materials Management Operations and the interface with Transit Facilities maintenance and Finance
- Knowledge of the computerized materials management system
- Knowledge of mechanical parts and supplies relating to vehicular and facility maintenance
- Knowledge of inventory control and warehousing practices
- Knowledge of purchasing, requisitioning and disposal procedures
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
- Familiarity with SAP systems

- Ongoing completion of Materials Management certificate courses
