- Perform manual maintenance work on buses, transit vehicles and related equipment.
- Provide safe, reliable, fast and cost-effective vehicle maintenance services to deliver public transit services in compliance with federal regulations.
Requirements
- Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience working in an automotive garage/mechanic setting, or in a construction or vehicle-cleaning environment, or operating heavy vehicles/equipment.
- Experience driving large vehicles is an asset.
- Previous experience working in an automotive repair garage is an asset.
- Ontario-approved training certificate for commercial vehicle wheel maintenance.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license without restrictions (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points.
- Obtain a valid Ontario Class CZ driver’s license without restrictions (or provincial equivalent) within the timeframe set by the employer.
- General knowledge of the methods, tools, equipment, procedures and standardized processes used in bus repair garages.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of cleaning tools and equipment.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of hand and power tools and performing minor vehicle maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of wheel and tire maintenance.
