About the role

  • Engineering Graduate supporting projects at the City of Ottawa by providing engineering assistance under a licensed Professional Engineer. Responsibilities include studies, data analysis, and technical report preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support in a diverse range of projects.
  • Carry out engineering studies/reviews, data analysis and preparing technical reports.
  • Follow a work plan that provides more detailed objectives and duties by specific departments.

Requirements

  • Completion of 4 year university degree in an engineering program accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB)
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree from the Professional Engineers Ontario's Recognized Programs List plus the completion of PEO's Technical Exam Program.
  • Specific and general knowledge in the field of application related to the department Engineering standards for Ontario/Canada and related to the field of expertise
  • Familiarity of various engineering standards, bylaws and related national and provincial codes, applicable acts, legislations, regulations and guidelines
  • Current and advanced engineering technologies, processes and design
  • Project management principles and practices
  • Analytical techniques
  • Applied research techniques (pilot plant, bench-scale, etc.): set-up, operation, analysis
  • Customer service management
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Outlook, etc.)
  • Field investigation and surveying techniques
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
