About the role

  • Communications Officer supporting CIPFA’s external and internal communications. Managing media relations, content creation, and collaborative campaigns within a hybrid working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and delivery of communications plans for key CIPFA priorities and campaigns.
  • Deliver day-to-day media relations activity, including drafting press releases, briefings, opinion pieces and reactive statements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists and support media engagement for senior staff and subject experts.
  • Research, write and edit high-quality content, translating complex policy and technical issues into clear and engaging communications.
  • Contribute content to CIPFA’s external channels, including social media (primarily LinkedIn) and the website.
  • Work collaboratively across Communications, Marketing, Policy and other teams to support integrated campaigns.
  • Monitor media coverage, conduct daily media monitoring and contribute to evaluation and reporting.
  • Support internal communications, including content planning and publishing on the intranet.
  • Maintain accurate records, including media contacts and coverage logs.

Requirements

  • Essential Experience of working in media relations.
  • Proven ability to write concise, engaging copy on complex policy or technical issues, often to tight deadlines.
  • Desirable Experience of working within or alongside the public sector.
  • Knowledge and understanding of public policy.
  • Familiarity with communications tools, including media monitoring platforms, journalist databases, social media scheduling tools, web content management systems and CRM systems.
