About the role

  • Senior Accountant managing grant accounting and reporting for Atlantic Health System across multiple hospital sites within month-end deadlines. Supporting compliance with federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to manage accurate and timely reporting through the general ledger for revenues and expenses for government grants and clinical trials across all hospital sites within month-end financial close deadlines.
  • Maintain an understanding of Uniform Guidance, GAAP, GAAS, and internal policies, to support grantees with training, technical assistance, and financial reporting from application to post-award.
  • Review project team prepared agency expenditure reports to verify accurate documentation prior to financial official sign off, to facilitate timely filing to agency for reimbursement.
  • Maintain active grant workpaper files, reporting schedules, and records of agency invoicing, payments, and receivables; follow up on outstanding receivables to improve cash flow.
  • Coordinate and prepare schedule of expenditures for annual grant compliance audits; serve as liaison and point of contact with the funded project team, auditors and funding agencies for audit and financial monitoring visits.
  • Support management in financial statement preparation for grant and financial audits and required regulatory filings and compliance requirements.
  • Support financial reporting for the Atlantic Center for Research (ACR), including deposit reconciliation and distribution to operations.
  • Monitor issuance of new fund accounts for grants and clinical trials contracts; perform account analysis, journal entries, and month-end close according to established deadlines.
  • Contribute to financial process improvements, system evaluations, and assist in projects and data analysis using Excel tools.
  • Assist peers and management on projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Accounting, CPA preferred.
  • 3-4 years of experience in accounting, public experience preferred.
  • Experience with grant award reporting, interaction with government funding agencies and auditors.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, Uniform Guidance/ NJ TCL OMB requirements.
  • Uniform Guidance compliance, funding agency and/or financial statement auditor experience a plus.
  • Intermediate knowledge MS Office applications, GMS, General Ledger systems- Oracle a plus.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize work under pressure with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
