About the role
- Virtualisation Engineer providing expert-level support for VMware environments at CAI. Responsible for managing and optimising VMware clusters while collaborating with technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level technical support for VMware products including vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN.
- Manage storage and networking resources within a virtualised environment.
- Collaborate with development teams to enhance automation and efficiency.
- Monitor and optimise the performance and availability of the VMware environment.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in VMware administration and engineering (vSphere 7+, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN etc.)
- Strong knowledge of hardware virtualization technologies, specifically VMware vSphere version 7+, vSAN, and vRealize Operations Manager.
- Experience supporting multiple hardware models (Dell, HPe).
- Strong knowledge of VMware metro-clusters and storage replication technology.
- Proficiency with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash etc.).
- Solid knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (Splunk, Prometheus etc.).
- Good documentation skills and operational awareness.
- Experience integrating new solutions with existing management toolsets such as vRealize Operations, Log Insight, and automation platforms.
- Highly competent in managing time, tasks, and key stakeholders.
- Ability to understand issues quickly, identify solutions, and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Preferred: Enterprise SAN storage experience (configuration, performance optimisation, troubleshooting).
- Familiarity with Pure Storage or willingness to learn and contribute in this space.
- VMware VCP or Pure Storage certifications.
- Automation and scripting experience (PowerCLI, Python).
