Responsibilities
Leverage strong communication skills, incentive risk and compensation expertise, and risk mitigation experience to support Capital One’s incentive governance processes.
Ensure incentive compensation programs appropriately balance performance and risk by providing independent oversight, monitoring, and effective challenge.
Conduct risk assessments and backtesting incentive plans.
Identify the Covered Associate population.
Design and monitor risk performance goals (including backtesting).
Deliver reporting and insights on incentive risk matters to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
Manage the oversight of incentive-related risks across all of Capital One’s incentive compensation programs.
Support compliance with the Interagency Guidance on Sound Incentive Compensation Policies.
Identify and assess potential risks embedded within the design and structure of incentive plans.
Partner closely with the first line of defense and Human Resources to ensure appropriate risk mitigation strategies and controls are implemented.
Provide independent review and effective challenge throughout the incentive plan lifecycle.
Collaborate with first and second lines of defense to support accurate identification of Covered Associates and the implementation of risk performance goals.
Requirements
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
At least 5 years of experience in incentive risk management within the financial services industry
At least 5 years of experience in incentive compensation or executive compensation design, governance, and risk assessment
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, or Military Experience (preferred)
Experience with regulatory guidance related to incentive compensation (i.e., Interagency Guidance on Sound Incentive Compensation Policies), including international compensation guidelines (preferred)
Experience partnering with senior executives and influencing decision-making (preferred)
Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to senior leadership (preferred)
Demonstrated experience collaborating across teams, problem solving, and streamlining complex processes, with strong attention to detail (preferred).
