About the role
- Associate Manager managing investment financial reporting and analysis for Canada Life. Supporting accounting policy development, driving process improvement, and leading team initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Analyze investment financial results and prepare ad hoc analyses for Senior Management, internal stakeholders, and external parties
- Analyze and review a variety of financial reports on investment activity and holdings to support consolidated financial statements, tax reports, budgeting, regulatory reporting and analyst materials
- Review financial statement and MD&A investment related disclosures
- Research specialized accounting issues and provide support to implement new International Financial Reporting Standards
- Provide leadership, coaching, and training to staff, fostering a strong learning and performance culture
- Lead special projects and ad hoc financial initiatives, driving process improvement and reporting efficiency
Requirements
- University degree, in Math, Business, Economics or similar
- CPA designation preferred
- Familiar with accounting for investments under International Financial Reporting Standards
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong leadership skills with ability to lead processes and develop strong team members
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities while managing deadlines
- Effective communication skills both verbally and in written form
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including strong working knowledge of Excel
- SAP experience would be considered an asset.
