Supervising Organizing Manager leading voter engagement and electoral strategy for immigrant communities at CIPC. Overseeing organizing team and managing campaigns and initiatives to uplift immigrant rights.
Responsibilities
Manage the development, refinement, and execution of CIPC's integrated voter engagement portfolio including its day-to-day progress and long-term electoral strategy, vision, and campaign plans.
Support and supervise department staff, including the onboarding of all new staff and the mentorship, work plan development, and professional development of supervisees.
Manage major CIPC electoral campaigns, voter registration drives, GOTV operations, and issue-based organizing campaigns, coordinating with Communications, Government Affairs, and Policy departments on cross-departmental initiatives.
Support the Organizing team and Government Affairs team in developing voter engagement strategies, managing voter databases, conducting voter outreach, preparing for candidate forums and community meetings, and responding to requests from campaign partners and elected officials.
Lead research, fundraising, management, and administrative efforts to expand voter engagement programs into emerging areas like climate activism, housing advocacy, youth organizing, and other priority issues for California's immigrant community as needed.
Design and implement comprehensive voter registration, voter education, and get-out-the-vote programs targeting immigrant communities statewide.
Build coalitions among diverse interests, needs, and audiences across the state, with particular focus on electoral and issue-based collaborations.
Support capacity building, technical assistance, supervision, and mentorship for community-based organizations in voter engagement and organizing tactics.
Engage in necessary research, collecting data and information on voter trends, demographic shifts, and electoral opportunities within immigrant communities.
Write and disseminate organizing guides, voter education materials, campaign toolkits, and other written materials for community partners and volunteers.
Support the Communications team in drafting press releases, statements, social media posts, e-blasts, talking points related to electoral and organizing campaigns, and coordinate interviews and background conversations with reporters.
Develop culturally competent voter outreach materials in multiple languages.
Assess the impact of federal and state electoral developments and voting policies on the rights of low-income immigrant communities and their families, particularly with respect to civic participation, voting access, and political representation.
Proactively identify gaps and opportunities for CIPC organizing initiatives, including novel voter engagement approaches and electoral strategies.
Track and analyze voter engagement metrics, turnout data, and campaign effectiveness to improve program outcomes.
Support the Development, Executive, and Management team in fundraising activities including writing grant proposals and reports for organizing and voter engagement programs, recruiting sponsors, sharing fundraising campaigns and other initiatives to raise funds.
Proactively contribute thought leadership and concrete proposals to improve cross collaboration and a better work environment, organizational development, and strategic direction of the organization's work as a member of the Leadership Team.
Complete supervisorial and organizational administrative responsibilities.
Coordinate joint voter education and mobilization efforts that leverage both organizations' strengths in policy advocacy and electoral engagement.
Assist in developing shared messaging and communications strategies that align electoral organizing with policy advocacy goals.
Help identify and cultivate community leaders who can effectively bridge grassroots organizing and electoral advocacy across both organizations.
Support fundraising efforts for CIPC’s 501(c)(4) sister organization's electoral and advocacy programs, including donor cultivation and grant writing for permissible activities.
Liaise with CIPC's 501(c)(4) sister organization California Immigrants in Action as necessary.
Other projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum of 7 years of experience in community organizing, electoral campaigns, voter engagement, and/or immigrant rights organizing
Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an organizing manager within a nonprofit, leading electoral campaigns, voter engagement programs, or issue-based organizing efforts related to immigrant rights
Minimum of 2 years of supervising experience
Experience analyzing impact of electoral developments, voting policies, and organizing campaign outcomes
Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative research skills, including the ability to research and analyze voter data, demographic trends, and electoral opportunities effectively
Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly with staff, community volunteers, and community-based organizations
Demonstrated ability to develop campaign and voter engagement strategies
Demonstrated commitment to pursuing racial and economic justice through electoral and organizing work
Ability to speak publicly about immigrant rights and civic engagement and the impact of federal or state electoral or policy changes on immigrant communities
Knowledge of voter file management systems (PDI, VAN, NGP, etc.) and campaign databases
Experience with voter registration drives, voter education programs, and GOTV operations
Familiarity with California electoral processes and voting policies with significant impact on immigrant communities
Experience with volunteer recruitment, training, and management for electoral and organizing campaigns
Understanding of digital organizing tools, social media campaigns, and multi-channel voter outreach
Demonstrated success working collaboratively across internal teams and with external partners, particularly in coalitions and on statewide electoral, organizing, or advocacy campaigns
Demonstrated ability to balance interests among a wide range of organizational or community stakeholders and build common cause
Track record of working with ethnically, linguistically, and racially diverse communities; direct experience working with immigrant rights organizations and community-based groups in California strongly preferred
Demonstrated experience managing a team in high-pressure campaign or organizing environments
