Senior Director overseeing business development and Established Products portfolio at Eisai. Leading strategic initiatives while managing P&L for mature pharmaceutical brands.
Responsibilities
This role is a dual position that combines business development leadership with full profit and loss responsibility for Eisai’s Established Products portfolio in the Americas.
On the Business Development side, the Senior Director leads and executes select strategic and transactional initiatives, including licensing, acquisitions, divestitures, and other external partnerships.
The role works closely with commercial and development teams to identify and advance opportunities that strengthen Eisai’s current business and expand its future product and pipeline portfolio.
On the Established Products side, the Senior Director is responsible for the overall management and optimization of Eisai’s mature brands, with direct P&L accountability for a portfolio ranging from $45M to $400M in annual revenue.
This includes setting strategy, managing performance, and ensuring the portfolio continues to deliver sustainable value in support of Eisai’s financial targets.
Identify and source in‑licensing, acquisition, and monetization opportunities, conducting rigorous assessment of R&D pipelines, operations, financial performance, and commercial potential.
Lead out‑licensing and sales divestiture processes, from strategic rationale through execution and close.
Build and own complex financial models to evaluate acquisitions, divestitures, licensing, and other value‑creation transactions.
Direct cross‑functional diligence efforts, coordinating internal and external scientific, operational, supply, commercial, financial, and legal teams through evaluation and deal execution.
Lead and execute deal negotiations, including term sheets, letters of intent, and definitive agreements, in close partnership with Legal and senior stakeholders.
Prepare and deliver clear, decision‑focused materials for senior leadership, highlighting key risks, opportunities, and value drivers.
Support post‑transaction integration and transition activities to ensure deal objectives are realized.
Execute ad‑hoc strategic assignments in collaboration with global affiliates, including ECL, Eisai Europe and Eisai Asia Latin America.
Own the end‑to‑end strategy and P&L performance for a portfolio of mature pharmaceutical brands that have lost regulatory exclusivity, with accountability for maximizing value across the full product lifecycle.
Make disciplined, data‑driven strategic decisions to optimize revenue, margin, and cash flow in highly competitive, price‑eroded markets, balancing short‑term performance with long‑term sustainability.
Continuously monitor and respond to market dynamics, including changes in pricing, channel mix, customer concentration, and competitive pressures.
Collaborate with Finance and Market Access to manage gross‑to‑net drivers, including government rebates, chargebacks, fees‑for‑service, managed care discounts, and pricing actions, with the ability to rapidly adjust tactics as conditions change.
Ensure continuous product supply by actively managing complex supply chain dynamics, including forecasting, ordering patterns, inventory levels, and coordination with manufacturing and distribution partners to avoid shortages or excess stock.
Lead and manage challenging external partnerships, including distributors, licensees, and regional partners, applying strong conflict‑resolution skills to navigate commercially sensitive situations.
