- Structural Substation Engineer applying advanced engineering techniques for utility-scale electrical substations at Black & Veatch. Involves project management, engineering deliverables, and team coordination.
Responsibilities
- Apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods.
- Expand knowledge and skill set in area of discipline.
- Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects.
- Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Review lower level engineering work or assignments.
- Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.
- Provides support to business development or pursuit activities and may offer other services to clients.
Requirements
- Valid PE license
- Experience with the design of utility-scale electrical substations
- Structural design of electrical substation steel structures and their foundations
- Basic structural steel and concrete experience using 3D analysis and design software such as RISA 3D or STAAD Pro
- Basic foundation design experience using analysis and design software such as L-Pile and RISA Foundation, SP-Mats, and SP-Col
- Solid experience using EXCEL or similar spreadsheets and MathCAD design templates
- Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline
