Responsibilities
- To design, build and maintain robust financial models for the municipal waste service.
- Support strategic decision making across the business.
- Provide advanced analytical insight, translating complex data into clear, actionable information.
- Enable high quality forecasting, scenario evaluation and commercial decision making.
- Develop advanced driver based financial models for forecasting, scenario planning and strategic evaluation.
- Translate complex data into clear and meaningful insights for nontechnical stakeholders.
- Ensure strong model governance including documentation, quality checks, audit trails and version control.
- Collaborate cross functionally with Finance, Data & Reporting, Operations and Bristol City Council.
- Monitor performance by reviewing actuals against forecasts.
Requirements
- Advanced Excel capability, including complex formulas and data transformation tools.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate technical analysis in a clear, simple way for senior stakeholders.
- Structured approach to modelling and documentation.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial modelling best practice.
- Knowledge of forecasting, scenario analysis, and investment appraisal methods.
- Familiarity with large datasets and analytical tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL).
- Proven experience designing financial models for forecasting, scenario analysis, or investment evaluation.
- Experience presenting insights and recommendations to nontechnical audiences.
- Experience implementing controls, documentation, and quality checks within modelling processes.
