About the role

  • Senior Lead Data Engineer managing Snowflake environments for a fast-growing digital technology service provider. Ensuring optimal performance and implementing governance policies in data engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Snowflake environments (development, test, and production)
  • Exploring all the new features in Snowflake and do a POV or POC on the same
  • Support Snowflake Cortex as well
  • Monitor system health, performance, and storage utilization
  • Perform user and role administration, warehouse management, and access provisioning
  • Coordinate version upgrades, patching, and system maintenance
  • Implement and enforce data governance policies
  • Manage authentication mechanisms (SSO, MFA, key-based access)
  • Monitor and tune query performance, warehouse sizing, and resource utilization
  • Identify long-running or high-cost queries
  • Enable automatic clustering and caching strategies
  • Manage incidents, service requests, and changes via established ITSM processes
  • Perform root-cause analysis (RCA)
  • Maintain operational runbooks, knowledge articles, and support documentation
  • Generate and maintain operational dashboards and usage reports
  • Track warehouse utilization, credit consumption
  • Provide periodic platform health and performance reports

Requirements

  • Snowflake Platform Administrator:
  • Mandatory Skillset: Snowflake
  • Good to have Skillset: Snowflake Cortex
  • Manage and maintain Snowflake environments (development, test, and production)
  • Exploring all the new features in Snowflake and do a POV or POC on the same
  • Should be able to support Snowflake Cortex as well.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and storage utilization to ensure optimal operation.
  • Perform user and role administration, warehouse management, and access provisioning.
  • Coordinate version upgrades, patching, and system maintenance with minimal downtime.
  • Implement and enforce data governance policies, including access control, role hierarchy, and data masking.
  • Manage authentication mechanisms (SSO, MFA, key-based access) in alignment with organizational security standards.
  • Monitor and tune query performance, warehouse sizing, and resource utilization.
  • Identify long-running or high-cost queries and implement optimization strategies.
  • Enable automatic clustering and caching strategies to improve performance and cost efficiency.
  • Manage incidents, service requests, and changes via established ITSM processes.
  • Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) for recurring or critical issues and implement preventive measures.
  • Maintain operational runbooks, knowledge articles, and support documentation.
  • Generate and maintain operational dashboards and usage reports.
  • Track warehouse utilization, credit consumption, and optimize cost efficiency.
  • Provide periodic platform health and performance reports to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate deployment activities, sandbox testing, and validation prior to release.
  • Maintain rollback procedures and ensure adherence to change control protocols.
  • Support migration of new features or enhancements into production.
