About the role

  • Supplier Manager ensuring reliable supply chain and strong partnerships at bp. Focus on supplier performance management and procurement process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • The Supplier Manager plays a critical role in maintaining a reliable supply chain, fostering strong supplier partnerships, and driving continuous improvement in procurement processes.
  • In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a positive and close collaboration with key suppliers following bp's supplier segmentation framework to ensure the suppliers are performing against contractual obligations and encourage continuous improvement of vendor's provision of goods and services.
  • Maintain a close relationship with key bp suppliers.
  • For Strategic Suppliers, you are responsible for coordinating with bp internal and external team to establish an Executive Sponsor team.
  • Develop Strategic Business Review framework to discuss partnership and future innovation opportunities.
  • Initiate Supplier Performance Management review meetings with business stakeholders and suppliers to measure supplier performance, and develop plans to address any performance issues.
  • Capture and maintain bp Records in relation to supplier performance, audit outcomes, improvement opportunities, improving safety performance and reducing operational risks.
  • Support other procurement activities including contract negotiations, dispute management, risk management (supply-chain disruption), quality assurance and any other operational issues relating to supplier's service delivery and performance!

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree (ideally in procurement or business) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 8 years professional experience in Indirect Procurement is required
  • Experience of working cross culturally and in an international environment
  • Ability to communicate and influence across different levels in the organisation

  • Use understanding of stakeholder strategy and category knowledge to develop a viable, long term view of business requirements.

  • Uses deep knowledge of supply markets to create strong sourcing solutions.
  • Uses supply market insights to determine future sourcing strategies for the business.
  • Networks internally and externally and stay up to date via industry publications, conferences, and events.
  • Mentors and coach’s category managers / specialists / analysts / lead in the use of analytical tools.
  • Leads governance discussions with executive sponsors regarding progress and business results.
  • Relationship Management
  • Takes full ownership of engagement issues with stakeholders, monitors relationships and acts on relevant feedback.
  • Category Spend Profiling
  • Develops insights on spend profiles that result in elimination of non-value add spend within the category.
  • Identifies key external and environmental drivers and uses this to recommend sourcing initiatives.
  • Contract Management
  • Manage contracts to optimally control spend, reduce risk, avoid supplier driven scope creep.
  • Manages BP’s and supplier’s compliance to the contract and proactively resolves issues before they become major problems.
  • Supplier Relationship Management
  • Works collaboratively with suppliers.
  • Links value proposition to strategic objectives.

  • Develops opportunities that provide mutual value and drive competitive advantage.
  • Challenges suppliers to generate value-based solutions that deliver improved business results.

  • Proposes internal and external solutions to reduce costs over the life of the purchase and implements solutions as agreed.
