About the role

  • Internship at BMW developing AI tools for validating crash simulations. Collaborating on innovative front restraint systems with focus on machine learning and computer vision.

Responsibilities

  • Develop AI-supported tools for validating front restraint simulations.
  • Design and implement a method for analyzing airbag deployment from crash videos using AI.
  • Develop, train, and evaluate machine learning and computer vision models.
  • Integrate your algorithms into existing validation workflows and tools.
  • Analyze and visualize results and derive evaluation metrics.
  • Independently propose new AI-based evaluation methods and tools and implement them as prototypes.

Requirements

  • Degree in computer science, data science, computational engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a comparable field.
  • Strong programming skills, especially in Python.
  • Solid knowledge of machine learning and computer vision.
  • Basic knowledge of finite element methods and explicit crash simulations (e.g., LS-DYNA) is an advantage.
  • Fluent English and good German skills, both spoken and written.
  • Teamwork and communication skills, with a structured and independent working style.
